Emotional balance is the ability to remain present in your emotions without being consumed by them and without avoidance. It is a skill well worth learning, how to feel your emotions and identify how they affect your mind and your body. Think about physical pain, how it becomes second nature for us to avoid the fire that will burn us, or the sharp object that will penetrate our skin.
We are equally as good at avoiding the emotional pain that causes us to feel overwhelmed or weak. We work, stay busy, or indulge in activities that help us ignore the emotions that are screaming to be let out. This may work for while, even years, but the body always remembers these emotional burdens and eventually the emotional pain will demand your attention once again.
